Tamil Nadu Combined Engineering Services Exam Study Materials

Tamil Nadu PSC has invited applications from eligible candidates for Combined Engineering Services Examination. Selected candidates will be recruited to Tamil Nadu Engineering Service, Tamil Nadu Highways Engineering Service, and Tamil Nadu Panchayat Development Service.

Those who are appointed as Assistant Engineer in Tamil Nadu Engineering Service will have the salary of Rs. 9300 - 34800 + Grade pay (Rs.5100/-) per month.

The registration fee for Tamil Nadu Combined Engineering Services Examination is 150 Rupees and the examination fee is 200 Indian Rupees. Those belong to SC/ST, and Differently Abled Persons are fully exempted from paying the examination fees.

The mode of payment (both registration fee and exam fee) is online. Adequate knowledge in Tamil is required to be selected in Tamilnadu Combined Engineering Service.

Tamilnadu Combined Engineering Services include Assistant Civil Engineer in Water Resources Department, Assistant Civil Engineer in (Buildings) PWD, Assistant Electrical Engineer in Tamilnadu PWD, Assistant Civil Engineer in TN Highways Department, and Assistant Engineer in Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.

Age Limit to Apply for Tamilnadu Combined Engineering Services
For open category candidates, the upper age limit is 30 years. No age limit for SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BCs, BCMs and Destitute Widows of all Castes.

The Differently Abled Persons are eligible for an age concession of 10 years. The maximum age limit for Ex-servicemen is 48 years.


Minimum Educational Qualification to Apply for Tamilnadu Combined Engineering Services
  1. Educational qualification required for Assistant Engineer (Civil) in Water Resources Department (PWD) and Assistant Engineer (Civil) in Buildings (PWD ) is given below.

    • B.E degree in Civil Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering

    • OR

    • A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations under Civil Engineering branch, subject to the following further conditions namely:-
        1. Should furnish evidence of having undergone practical training in surveying for a period of not less than one year

        2. OR

        3. Should have put in service for a period of not less than one year in the Public Works Department as Overseer or Junior Engineer.

        4. OR

        5. Should hold the Upper Subordinate or L.C.E Diploma of the College of Engineering, Guindy or L.C.E. Diploma awarded by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Chennai

  2. Minimum educational qualifications required for Assistant Engineer in Tamilnadu Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department:
    • A degree in Civil Engineering

    • OR

    • A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution of Engineers (India) under Civil Engineering Branch, subject to the condition that he/she should furnish evidence of having undergone practical training in surveying for a period of not less than one year

  3. The educational requirement for Assistant Engineer (Civil) in Tamilnadu Highways Department:
    • A degree in Civil Engineering

    • OR

    • A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations under Civil Engineering Branch.

  4. The educational qualification required to apply for Assistant Engineer (Electrical) in Tamilnadu PWD:
    • A degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering

    • OR

    • A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examination with Electrical Engineering as a subject
