Kerala Civil Excise Officer Examination

Kerala Public Service Commission has invited applications to the post of Civil Excise Officer ( Trainee) in the Kerala Excise Department. It is a district-level examination, and those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent can apply to only one district.

From 2021 onwards, you must go through a two-stage written examination. The Kerala PSC Plus Two level Preliminary and Mains examination.

How to Become a Civil Excise Officer
To become a Civil Excise Officer in Kerala, you must pass the Common Plus Two level written examination (OMR-based) and a physical efficiency test conducted by Kerala PSC.

The Common Plus Two-level written examination has two stages.
  1. The Plus Two level Preliminary Examination
  2. The Plus Two level Mains Exam

The Plus Two Level Prelim is a qualifying test. All you have to do is to score above the Cut Off mark set by the PSC. Everyone who scores above the cut-off mark can appear for the Mains Exam.

Plus Tow Level Preliminary examination is common for different vacancies having the same qualification. It is possible to have a separate cut-off mark for the Civil Excise Officer Post.

After you pass the written and physical test, you will have department training. You will get a posting after the successful completion of training.

What is the Duty of a Civil Excise Officer?
Civil Excise Officer is the new name given to Excise Guard, and they are the lowest ranking enforcement officers in the department.

Kerala Excise Department collects Excise Revenue for the state and enforces various Excise Acts.

It is a law enforcement agency that controls the manufacturing and distribution of alcohol and other Intoxicating Drugs.

Excise Guards ( older name of Civil Excise Officer ) are empowered with the power to arrest anyone who committed an offense in a public place against the Abkari Acts.

The salary of a Civil Excise Officer is 20000 - 45800 Indian Rupees per month.

Eligibility

To attend the Civil Excise Officer test, you must have the following qualifications.

  1. Educational Qualification

    Candidate must have passed Plus Two or equivalent.

  2. Physical Qualification

    Must have a minimum 165 cm height and 81 cm around the chest with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.
